Jabbed welding wire

My kids are doing a little project for a science fair. I was trying to help them the other day and messed up so bad that they had to start over. I thought that it was a possibility that welding wire would hold two pieces of clay together – and it did not work out so well. The clay did not keep shape when I jabbed the wire in it. When I tried to fix the shape my true lack of art skills showed.
