The Five Gallon Pail Of Defy Deck Stain Was Stolen

The five gallon pail of defy deck stain was left in one of my workers trucks last night and now it is gone. I know that he does not live in a very good neighborhood and that one of his closest neighbors probably took it and sold it. I am torn between making him pay for the defy deck stain out of his wages, or just letting it go. If I do not make him responsible, he might be forgetful and do it again. I cannot afford to replace stain that is brand new, it is just like throwing money down the drain.
