Is inviting children a good idea in baby shower invitations?

The whole idea of a baby shower is to honor the new mother and welcome the little one. It is usually an all woman affair where they have a nice time talking about the good times they have had together and sharing their experiences of pregnancy and child care. So a child here is out of place and the mother would not be able to enjoy the event as she will need to supervise him/her. So it certainly won’t be a wise idea to include children in your baby shower invitations. And if you cannot avoid children, better arrange someone for child care.
