I have planned to buy the first generation DVD player from Debenhams and it represents an excellent value enabling extremely high quality playback of HD-DVD, up converted standard DVD, and CD media. Will also play back DVD+R/-R and RW. Next generation versions will probably have faster start-up and load times. And the picture quality is fantastic, even with standard DVD content. The unit does a fine job of upgrading non-DVD’s to 1080i resolution. It has a Excellent picture quality .I tried it first on a regular DVD (U571) and the performance was amazing. Sound was great and the picture was incredible.
