Microfibers are a Great Fabric Choice for Sofa Beds

March 12th, 2010

Microfibers, which are made from 100% polyester, are extremely durable and easy to clean.  A sofa bed will often go into a living room or other area that allows for a high level of use, and likewise has a high potential for getting dirty or stained.  Polyester microfibers are a great upholstery choice for sofa beds, for two primary reasons.  First, polyester is naturally a very strong fiber.  Perhaps more importantly, microfibers are made by a tight compression process, which bars abrasives, such as dirt or hair, from embedding within the fibers.  When this does happen, say with a loose weave, the fibers of the upholstery tend to get forced apart, look worn, and eventually allow for stains and other damage to occur.  This will not happen with a polyster microfiber!
