January 27th, 2010

Additional dental care is needed when it comes to children with permanent teeth. Teaching the child good dental habits is something parents should be able to do. Together with the dentist, the parents should ensure that their children do not develop poor oral health. The fact that tooth decay and other dental problems inhibit growth is the reason why this should be so. In fact, child hood tooth decay causes decrease in the weight of the child.

Nevertheless prevention and reversal is possible with proper dental care. At the same time, this developmental age is very crucial in the development and formation of healthy teeth which the child will carry on to his teenage years to adulthood. So again, pediatric dentistry is needed by every child. If the child did not receive proper oral and dental care other dental problems will come about as he reaches his teenage years. Some of these may be gap between the front teeth or misaligned teeth. At the same time the lifestyle of teenagers today may cause dental problems. One example is xerostoma or dry mouth which can be caused by dieting and taking diet pills. This condition can cause all sorts of infection, gum diseases and teeth problems. The child will suffer this condition or other age associated dental health problems without proper dental care.
