Studies have shown that sleep deprivation causes hunger

February 17th, 2010

Studies have shown that sleep deprivation causes hunger. If you want to lose weight, then the best thing you can do is to make sure you are getting enough sleep at night on a regular basis. This is based on the findin that your basal metabolic rate (BMR) changes if you don’t sleep. This represents the number of calories you burn while you sleep. You want your BMR number to be as high as possible during sleep. Also, the horomone lepitin, doesnt get a chance to fully replenish. Lepitin is what signals the body when you’ve had enough to eat. If your lepitin levels are low, you will feel hungrier throughout the day, causing you to eat more to quell your hunger, thus causing you to gain more weight and undermine your weight loss efforts.
