December 6th, 2009
Osteopaths in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States are required to undertake continuing professional development Osteopathy is a regulated health care profession in each of these countries and patients may consult directly with osteopaths without a referral from another health care professional, such as their family physician. In the United States of America, Osteopaths have unrestricted practice rights, whereas outside the United States Osteopaths are restricted to the practice of manipulative medicine.
Continuing osteopathic education is provided by various educational institutions and private training companies. Never before has there been so many scientific advances which impact upon the practice of osteopathy, which is why continuing education is so important.
