Homeworkers need an office water cooler substitute!

January 19th, 2010

The office water cooler not only serves the purpose of supplying fresh drinking water to office staff, but also an important social and psychological function. So what can you do if you work from home and don’t have a water cooler and colleagues to take a break with, relax and recharge your batteries during the working day?

Everyone needs regular breaks from their work to ensure maximum productivity. If you work on your own, there are many ways to connect with people online via social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter. However, if your work involves long periods at the computer, you really should find something away from the screen if you’re to truly relax.

Taking the dog for a walk, popping to the shop and inviting a friend for coffee are all ways in which you can take a short work break and recharge without affecting your work, and should make you more productive in the long run.
