Bamboo is Environmentally Friendly

January 19th, 2010

If you care about the environment, you should be installing bamboo flooring in every room in your house. Bamboo is a renewable resource that is classified as a grass, so it grows very quickly. By comparison, an oak tree may take over 100 years to reach maturity, whereas bamboo can be harvested after growing just 3 years. It requires hardly any fertilization or pesticides, and it regenerates itself from rhizomes left in the ground without replanting. It is an excellent eco-friendly alternative to wood. The bamboo should be grown in a sustainable and responsible manner which means monocultures and clear cutting should be eliminated.
