80′s Music and MTV

December 9th, 2009

80’s music was largely characterized by the birth of music television. Ironically, the first MTV was for the song “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles. The artists of this era followed with the trend. Who could forget the visual spectacles of the MTV’s of Michael Jackson, the lair of the MTV’s of Madonna, and the spirit shown by the MTV’s of Metallica? While the 80′s music was great, the visuals made them even more popular and remembered. MTV was a huge step towards popularizing the excellent music, and served as a great conduit between the artists and their fans.
